Job Description

The precinct chair represents the party to the voting households primarily in the geographical bounds of a voting precinct. They are elected by the Republican Party Voters in each county precinct. The precinct chair is the "go-to person" for all Republican precinct activity.

The whole purpose of the party is to elect Republicans and we know there is a 7% minimum increase in turnout between those precincts where we have an active chair and those where we do not. The presence of an effective precinct chair is key to our "Get Out The Vote" (GOTV) effort.

You need roots to grow grass, and the precinct chairs are the 'roots' of our grassroots organization. Simply put, the party cannot grow without expanding its base into every community, street, or canyon within the county unless we have a chair in every precinct. The Precinct Chairs also help find candidates to run for office, they help with ballot and election security; and they form the leading edge that mobilizes our voters to participate in our election process, and to Vote.
• Together with the other leaders of the County party, the Precinct Chair carries out the political business of the party within the precinct.
o    A standing member of the County Central Committee.
o    Organize the precinct and get to know the people
o    Get our voters to the polls
o    Encourage party voters to attend precinct caucuses
o    Help bridge the gap between party voters and elected officials
o    Help distribute literature/signs for all party Candidates within the precinct during the election cycle prior to voting during all elections.
o    Help recruit volunteers during the general election cycle to man phone banks, mail literature, etc.

• Govern all precinct specific RPLC programs and/or functions that are held within the precinct or at Conventions where precinct issues are on the agenda.

• Assist the RPLC in the recruitment of precinct volunteer positions:
      o    Election judges
      o    Poll workers, etc
o    Help work the precinct polling place on Election Day
      o    Pass out literature
o    Report pertinent information back to the party headquarters on election day.

• Help the Party during functions such as fund raising events, press events and general operations when requested by the County Chair or the County Executive committee.

• Precinct chairs may call precinct specific meetings. Members of the RPLC-EC are not members but should be invited or at least aware of all meetings.

• Identify and mentor successors.
