Political Director
Job Description
The 1st Vice Chair of the RPLC and the duties of this office are generally combined. However, each newly elected Chair of the RPLC may separate these offices and appoint this position as the Chair wishes.
The Political Director will create and implement the political strategy for Lincoln County's activities during election cycles and provide strategic guidance on the execution of campaigns and other political initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Develop county wide political strategy to help elect Lincoln County Republican Candidates.
• Work closely with the 2nd VC and precinct chairs to ensure the following goals are met:
o A well organized precinct plan to recruit volunteers
o Research is done specifically analyzing the past 3-4 election cycles and how targeted races played out in specific precincts.
o Identify precinct specific coalitions like HOA's and then plug volunteers into these coalitions and help keep them motivated year-round.
o Voter Registration drives are taking place at every local event, church meeting, grocery store, etc.
o Develop targeted political strategy for key precincts.
• Coordinate with New Mexico Statewide Candidate campaigns to ensure that Lincoln County residents know our State Candidates.
• Recruit Republican Candidates to run for Lincoln County office where Candidates don't exist.
• Offer guidance to all Local campaigns, and help disperse materials for those races where necessary.
• Work with the RPLC Events Director to help organize events aimed at expanding the political influence of Lincoln County Candidates.
• Build party relationships with allies, outside decision-makers, splinter groups, and others.
• Train volunteers working on legislative and electoral projects.
• Work with the RPLC Executive committee and Communications Director on message strategy.
• Collaborate with others to identify priority policy and legislative opportunities.
• Opposition research must be done on specific HB and SB over the past 4 legislative sessions and analyze any votes or amendments made by targeted opposition candidates that can serve as material for direct mail pieces, radio ads, etc.
• Identify and mentor successors.
