County Chair
Job Description
Obviously, the Chair cannot impose his/her will on the county Central committee and/or the county Executive committee, but it is the Chair’s responsibility to see that there is clarity and direction for the members of both committees to properly govern the RPLC.
It must be clear that the Chair's job is to lead discussions, and that all of the powers as Chair are derived from the authority of the Central committee and to ensure that the Central committee is functioning effectively. The Chair shall preside at all meetings of the RPLC, including the Executive Committee and Central committee, and has the responsibility to appoint sub-committees and their Chairs when needed.
The RPLC Chair must work closely with all members of the Executive committee in producing agendas, organizing events, fund raisers, and all other events of the RPLC, and in reviewing and helping to develop the same for all sub-committees with their respective Chairs (when necessary).
In addition to the functions described above, the Chair shall assume the responsibility for the following activities:
- Ensure that Central committee Members receive appropriate and timely information
- A deep involvement in long-term strategy.
- Ensure the effective functioning of committees.
- A role in representing the Party externally.
- Serve as an occasional Spokesperson.
- Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the other Officers, and sub-committee Chairs.
If the Chair does not involve all members of the County Central committee and/or the County Executive committee, and all of their sub committees, it will likely undermine the effectiveness of the party as a whole.
Be ready to work hard; this isn't a 9-5 job, and know that it will cost you in personal time and personal finances.
NOTE ***
Make no mistake, despite the awesome responsibilities of the Chair. The Chair cannot declare, demand or dictate to the Central committee and/or the Executive committee of the RPLC.
First (1st) Vice Chair
The 1st Vice Chair shall assume the powers and duties of the Chair (as outlined above) when the Chair is absence, and any additional duties as requested by the Chair!
